Mother Teresa - A Tribute

Got this (unknown sourced) compilation in the mail today. Someone so thoughtfully put this together as a tribute to one of the most admired personalities of our time, Mother Teresa, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for her humanitarian work. For those of us who know little about this wonderful personality, this compilation is insightful.

Source unknown but appreciated. Thank you.

Nothing is Going to Spoil This Moment

Many of you might have read or seen the video of "Conversations with God". Here's another profound moment from its author, Neale Donald Walsch.

"Nothing is going to spoil this moment...Imagine making that
decision: nothing's going to spoil this moment. Now, imagine making that decision about a relationship, job, day in the week, or...whatever. Imagine applying that idea uniformly in your life."

--Neale Donald Walsch,
author of Conversations with God.

It is such a simple thing...

This choosing to embrace the unspoiled in every aspect of our lives.

So simple, yet so profound.

And it is a decision we each can choose to make.

May you decide to allow nothing to spoil this day.

And may you always be aware that you are loved beyond measure and a cherished blessing to me.

Experience an audio and visual presentation of today's Heartfelt Blessing.

Be Blessed!

Forgetfulness

It's amazing how people (ladies in particular) have never-ending topics to talk about anytime. Our topic at lunch today was forgetfulness and we shared some hilarious experiences. Oops!! Then as if by some unknown force, some jokes along the same line came in the mail. How weird! Disclaimer: These are just jokes so any similarity to any experience(s) or person(s) is purely co-incidental.

Two elderly women were eating breakfast in a restaurant one morning. Ethel noticed something funny about Mabel's ear and she said,

"Mabel, do you know you've got a suppository in your left ear?"

Mabel answered, "I have a suppository in my ear?"

She pulled it out and stared at it. Then she said, "Ethel, I'm glad you saw this thing. Now I think I know where to find my hearing aid."

When the husband finally died his wife put the usual death notice in the paper, but added that he died of gonorrhea.

No sooner were the papers delivered when a friend of the family phoned and complained bitterly,

"You know very well that he died of diarrhea, not gonorrhea."

Replied the widow, "I nursed him night and day so of course I know he died of diarrhea, but I thought it would be better for posterity to remember him as a great lover rather than the big shit he always was."

A funeral service is being held for a woman who had recently passed away.

At the end of the service, the pall bearers are carrying the casket out when they accidentally bump into a wall, jarring the casket.

They hear a faint moan. They open the casket and find that the woman is actually alive!

She lives for ten more years, and then dies.

Once again, a funeral is held, and at the end of it, the pall bearers are again carrying out the casket.

As they carry the casket towards the door, the husband cries out,

"Watch that wall!"

Two elderly ladies had been friends for many decades. Over the years they had shared all kinds of activities and adventures.

Lately, their activities had been limited to meeting a few times a week to play cards.

One day they were playing cards when one looked at the other and said,

"Now don't get mad at me.... I know we've been friends for a long time..... but I just can't think of your name! I've thought and thought, but I can't remember it. Please tell me what your name is."

Her friend glared at her. For at least three minutes she just stared and glared at her. Finally she said, "How soon do you need to know?"

THE SENILITY PRAYER

Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do,
and the eyesight to tell the difference.

Now, I think you're supposed to send this to 5 or 6, maybe 10.
Oh well, send it to a bunch of your friends if you can remember who they are.

Then something is supposed to happen . . . I think, so anyway!

The Birth of Mankind

Based on the Lunar Calendar, today is the seventh day of the new year. According to Chinese legend, the seventh day is the birth of mankind and this is normally celebrated with a family get-together, a lavish dinner if you will. So, Happy Birthday, Everyone!

One Account Mortgage

Have you heard about the One Account Mortgage? I hear it's a great way to save money on a mortgage. The regular mortgage that we are accustomed to is just a big debt that we take time to pay it off and in the meantime, it accumulates interest.

Now there is a One Account Mortgage that allows us to pay off the mortgage sooner. How this works is that it allows the mortgage to be combined with our normal current account and monthly salary and the latter two are offset against the mortgage balance. I think this is a great idea as the extra funds will help to reduce the mortgage sum thus reducing on interest payment. Plus, extra savings built up can be counted towards the mortgage further reducing the interest.

Another one of its benefits is that it allows complete flexibility in managing your finances. You can overpay to clear your mortgage quicker, or underpay or even take a break from your payments if you need to. This account also works as a current account plus providing a host of other benefits.

Malaysia to ban fast food adverts

Recently, the Health Minister raised the issue of banning fast food advertisements citing that fast food is the silent killer and have contributed to affluent diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. And they are talking about imposing a 'sin tax' soon. I think the move by the Ministry to focus on wellness programmes is the way to go.

Shop around for the Right Credit Card

Many young people come out into society from universities and colleges every year. After awhile they soon realise the need for a credit card to elevate their status. How would they know which credit card to pick? Mostly, they would jump at any credit card offer that comes along but the more discerning would shop around before they commit.

There are different types of credit cards that cater to different needs. What do you look for in a card? If you need some emergency cash for a short term, the 0% Purchase Credit Card would be perfect. Instead of taking out a high interest loan, use the credit card and for the first 6 months take advantage of the 0% interest rate offer. Used correctly, this type of credit card can save you interest.

Another card that can save one money on interest is to sign up for a 0% balance transfer credit card. Transfer the balance from the existing card into the new credit card that offers 0% interest on the balance transferred. This will save one on interest.

Shop around for the best card that suits your needs whether it's balance transfers, cash back, 0% on purchases, cards with rewards, travel reward cards or low APR cards.

Kuala Lumpur deserted

This is how Kuala Lumpur looks like right now during major holidays like the Chinese New Year. Though some have returned to the city and to work, the exodus will happen this Sunday when people make the trip back to their homes from outstation.

Online Passport Application

Wow! I love this idea of applying for the International Passport online and collecting it the following day. If there is one chore I dislike doing is waiting in line at the Immigration office. The plan is to have this system in use by middle of next year. Can't wait. More..

Cisco Systems - The World of Advanced Technology

This new age of advanced technology is making many things possible as data centres are becoming more and more sophisticated allowing organizations to achieve lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), greater resilience and increased agility.

Wifi is a common term these days uttered and understood by anyone who uses the Internet. A wirelss network offers a combination of mobility and flexibility plus the added advantage of speed, security and reliability. VOIP is another feature that is becoming popular these days. Not only is it convenient to use, it also results in much cost savings.

Organizations can further reduce cost with the introduction of video-conferencing where participants from anywhere in the world are able to participate in a conference without having to be there physically. The use of video enhances communications. With the high quality of video options available, video-conferencing offers a popular alternative to sending employees overseas for a meeting. Substantial savings are being realised with video conferencing.

Getting online can have its worries and threats thus knowing that secure-networking is in place in a site that you surf is reassuring. Companies are now more and more into making their sites secure from threats from both internal and external sources. This protection helps organizations take better advantage of the intelligence in their network resources, thus improving business processes and cutting costs.

The Sixth Day of Chinese New Year

I'm back after a good few days of being totally away from the blogosphere. I missed it (a little) and you (a lot). How time flies. Today is the sixth day of the Chinese or Lunar New Year. For our foreign and non-Chinese friends, Chinese New Year is celebrated for fifteen days. No, we don't have a partridge nor turtle doves. But we do have oranges, gifts of money in red packets (given out by elders to children and the unmarried)), reunion dinners, lots of gatherings and feasts, food and more food. And diets after that. haha..

It's good to be back!

Hot Real Estate in Austin, Texas

A friend who just got back from the US, Austin in Texas to be exact shared with me that the real estate market there is doing extremely well despite it slowing down in the US generally. If you are looking into property investments in the US, Austin is the place you might want to look into. You can check out the numerous articles online and lots of websites that will be able to provide you information on Austin Real Estate.

Let me recommend Jimolenbush.com. It has a large database of Austin property listings. With its thousands of listed properties, you will be sure to find something that meets your requirement. As a top realtor, Jim would be able to help you find what you are looking for, perhaps your dream home.

Do Malaysian women need a chastity belt?

Are Malaysians going backwards instead of forward? Are we going back to the era of the chastity belt? There's an interesting debate going on up there after a suggestion was made by one who thinks he doesn't need one. Read the ridiculous idea. Your thoughts, please.

Pre-paid Cellphones for You?

Even though cell phones are a necessity these days, fortunately users have a choice of having either a standard cell phone plan or a pre-paid plan. Either plan has got its own clientele and merits. The people I know who opted for the pre-paid plan have strong reasons for choosing that option. In other words, the pre-paid plan suits their needs.

Some people do not want to commit to a contract for various reasons. Expats who are staying in a place for just a short stint would fall into this category, for instance. In some countries, one needs enough credit to qualify for a standard plan. Yet others do not see a need for a big monthly bill as they may not use their phones enough. In these situations, pre-paid phones or pre-paid plans would work best.

If it's the pre-paid plan that you are looking for, why not check out the great variety of pre-paid cell phones available from Wirefly. The Cingular GoPhones have all the benefits of Cingular Wireless with no annual contract, no credit check, no deposit and zero commitment. There's also the T-Mobile ToGo Prepaid Phones and the Virgin Mobile Prepaid Phones. In fact, there is a wide range of phones available for the many plans Wirefly has. Right now, their online exclusive is the Family Plan where you get two free phones plus minutes can be shared. Check it out.

Fireworks Ban is still on

Chinese New Year used to be celebrated on a noisier scale, that is when fire crackers were allowed. Fireworks have been banned here for quite a number of years now. Throughout the entire fifteen days of the celebration, you would hear the loud noise everywhere. These days, during Chinese New Year, the only loud noise one hears is the drum beat of the Lion Dance troupes. Most people prefer it quiet though the celebration is no less merry and full of family activities.

Need a Mold Inspection on Your Property?

Malaysia being in the tropics is a country with high humidity. As a result, moss and mold are not uncommon and they lead to degradation. A colleague who recently bought a sprawling property in the country engaged a Mold Company to perform mold testing on his property. A Mold Inspector was deployed to gather facts. He even brought a Mold Dog. Why dogs you may ask.

Dogs have been trusted for hundreds of years to detect and locate things humans can't find. Once this four-legged mold detective locates the area that needs further investigation, industry-standard testing and investigative methods are then used to confirm the findings. All this is professionally done and the method is proven, accurate and trusted.

Pig Pledge

Several months ago, pork consumption took a dive when consumers learned about illegal substances, including beta agonist, used on pigs. Pig feed containing beta agonist is now a banned substance under the Customs Prohibited Order. Pig farmers will sign a pledge not to used illegal substances on their livestock.

So are you now going back to those char siew (barbequed sweet meat) or siew yoke (barbecued savory meat), bak kut teh (meat cooked in herbal soup) and others?

Physical Therapy

My girlfriend, Joyce, has been putting up with a backache for sometime now and it has become more severe of late. Her latest visit to the doctor revealed that she has a crooked spine. There is a name for it, I believe, but it escapes me right now.

She has been going for massages and other medical treatments but none seems to work that well. Perhaps she should go to a chiropractor instead. As she is planning a holiday in the U.S., maybe I'll let her know about this New York Physical Therapy Office which may be able to help her.

Happy Valentine's Day

Dear Friends near and far, may this day be the beginning
of a new life of new experiences, great happiness and joy.
May you have only the best. Happy Valentine's Day!

Get Financial News Here

It's good to read about banking and finance to keep up with the financial world. Unfortunately, the dailies do not cover enough of such news. Where do we turn to then? Lombard Direct would be a good source. They have recently launched their new Financial News section on their website offering financial news relating to various topics such as insurance, credit, property prices, loans and many more. Their articles are categorised and to view them, simply click on the specific category on the sidebar. You can also browse articles by date or just browse the latest financial news articles on the page itself.

Lombard Direct also provides loans so banking news is also available. There's even a section specially for existing customers as well as a provision for customer calls to be returned. I think this is a cool feature.

The Wrong Job

Some of us are not so fortunate as to be doing the work that we love but we make do. Why? Because that's just us. We are just human and we are flexible and would not think of rocking the boat, so to speak. We often rant about life being too short and that we should do this, not do this, yadda, yadda, yadda. Seriously, do you think life is too short for the wrong job?

Learning a foreign language

Being multi-lingual is an advantage. With Malaysia being a country with multi races, knowing a language or dialect besides one's own is beneficial and not uncommon. Many people here learn foreign languages. If I were to sign up for a foreign language course such as a French Language course, I would surely pick a language center that is reputable. I am sure with the right training and syllabus, anyone could master a new language.

These days, we do not need to physically go to classes. Online language classes are now available. The entire process is simple and professionally done. First, they analyse your need and determine the level you are in. Then they find out where you'd be taking the classes, either home or office. They next confirm the days of your classes and finally they assign you a qualiifed trainer who is normally a native speaker. At the end, they evaluate you to find out how well you are doing.

American teen wakes to find man fondling him

I normally don't read such news but somehow this article caught my eye. Moral of the story: Beware of man who offers you free room for the night. You might also get a free fondle. Oops! And we are talking about men. Full story..

VOIP - About making cheaper calls

Making overseas calls can be a costly affair. These days, with more homes having Internet service, calls can be made at a much reduced rate using VOIP or voice over Internet protocal. Vonage is one company that provides this service. In fact, Vonage is redefining communications by offering consumers and small business an affordable alternative to traditional telephone service.

For instance, if you sign up for a basic plan at $19.99/month, you will get 500 minutes anywhere in Canada, the US and Puerto Rico and unlimited incoming calls. However, if you pick their Premium Unlimited package, you can make unlimited local and international calls in Canada, the US, Puerto Rico, Italy, France, Spain, the UK and Ireland.

Finally, a phone service that's all about giving you more instead of charging you more.

Need a good DUI attorney?

Driving under the influence of alcohol is actually a dangerous act which puts oneself and other road users in danger. However, if you or anyone you know who has been caught drinking and driving and are living in San Diego or were visiting, here's a San Diego DUI lawyer you would want to contact. His list of victories is indeed commendable and he is very well-versed with the California DUI Breath Test Defenses.

Counting

I received a lovely email the other day which serves as a good reminder to be thankful for what I have. It's really nice to be receiving these once in awhile as we sometimes forget to be thankful. These keep us grounded and brace us for setbacks. Lovely pictures too. However, the source is unknown so thank you to whoever put these together in the first place.

It's okay to bad-mouth the boss

The other day, I read with interest an article about an employee being dismissed for bad-mouthing her boss but she won her case when the Industrial Court ruled that it's okay to bad-mouth one's boss. Read article below.

Comparing Loans

At one time or another we all have to borrow money either to finance a home, a car or some big-ticket items. Other times, some of us may even need a little emergency cash advance to overcome a temporary setback and for this, Payday Cash Advance Loans would suit the need. But generally, how do we know that the loan package we pick is the one that suits our need? The thing to do is to the compare loans available so that we select the best package in order not to fall into a financial trap or into further financial difficulties.

You can find information and advice from PayDayCashAdvanceLoans.Biz as they offer borrowers unbiased information about the payday loan process and helps put consumers in contact with lenders specifically tailored to their cash advance needs.

The Happy Couple

What constitutes happiness and how do you define happiness? Happiness means different things to different people as what makes one happy may not make the next one so. Everyone is different and has different wants and needs. Some people find happiness when they are allowed to take charge, others are happy just following behind. Would you be happy in a relationship like the one below?

A couple was celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. Their domestic tranquility had long been the talk of the town

"What a peaceful & loving couple". A local newspaper reporter was inquiring as to the secret of their long and happy marriage.

"Well, it dates back to our honeymoon," explained the man. "We visited the Grand Canyon and took a trip down to the bottom on the canyon by horse. We hadn't gone too far when my wife's horse stumbled. My wife quietly said, 'that's once'." We proceeded a little further and the horse stumbled again. Once more my wife quietly said, 'That's twice.' "We hadn't gone a half-mile when the horse stumbled the third time. My wife quietly removed a revolver from her purse and shot the horse dead.

"I started an angry protest over her treatment of the horse, while I was shouting, she looked at me, and quietly said,

'That's once'. "And we lived happily ever after." :)

Italian Properties

A friend just got back from a trip to Venice, Italy. I wonder if he was there checking out Italian properties. I wouldn't be surprised as Italy is really a beautiful country and great real estate is in abundance. Plus, owning properties in Italy is not a hassle.

When you think of Italy, what comes to mind are its beautiful weather, great Italian food, wonderful holiday spots. Besides its many famous cities, Tuscany and Sicily come to mind. Even George Clooney has a villa in Italy. I believe it's even featured in the movie, "Oceans Twelve".

After the Floods, what's next?

Malaysia has certainly started the year in extremes of weather. We have hardly recovered from the terrible floods and now we have been warned to brace for a dry spell. Due to the hot and dry weather, the country is also on high alert for peat and bush fires, with three areas in Pahang and Selangor named as potential red spots. Read story..

Looking for a Loan?

There have a number of houses undergoing renovation last month in my neighbourhood and they all look like new with the new coat of paint and lovely new facades and all decked up with Chinese New Year decorations. I am really glad that all that din and mess by the roadside has been cleared and our neighbourhood has got its peace and quiet back again.

Normally around about the Chinese New Year, there would be more renovations going on to get the homes done up before the celebration. Doing up a home can be a costly affair but luckily loans are available for the purpose of home improvements. Many will use the equity tied up in their home to take out a secured loan for this purpose.

An extension, double glazing or general upgrading are all usual reasons for a secured loan or home improvement loan. Other reasons the loan can be used for are to use it to fund a new business, for education, weddings, a honeymoon, a new car or that dream holiday.

If you are in the UK and are looking at taking out a loan, check out this site: ukpersonalloanstore.co.uk. They have a comprehensive selection of loans and links to UK loan providers and information and advice on choosing the most suitable loan to suit your needs. Their selection includes personal loans, secured loans, car loans, bad credit loans, business loans, and others. You could even ask for a mortgage or a remortgage quote.
