Several months ago, pork consumption took a dive when consumers learned about illegal substances, including beta agonist, used on pigs. Pig feed containing beta agonist is now a banned substance under the Customs Prohibited Order. Pig farmers will sign a pledge not to used illegal substances on their livestock.
So are you now going back to those char siew (barbequed sweet meat) or siew yoke (barbecued savory meat), bak kut teh (meat cooked in herbal soup) and others?
