The 12 Best Penang Food Poll

When we mention Penang, chances are food comes to mind. If you visit Penang, trying out the island's delicious hawker fare is a must whether you are a local or a visitor.

So what food is on your must-try list when you visit Penang? Would it be the delicious stir fried to perfection char koay teow (stir-fried noodles), the aromatic and rich in spices nasi kandar, the sweet tasting cendol topped with snowy grinded ice or the palate pleasing mee udang (prawn noodles in soup) served with fresh large prawns?

The Penang State Tourism Development and Culture Committee will be producing a brochure called the 12 Best Food in Penang. You can be part of the process by helping them select the 12 must-try hawker food. Take part in the poll by VOTING NOW!

The poll is open for votes from 26th August to 30th September 2009.

And while we are on the subject of Penang, here is a contest for photography enthusiasts. Organized by Canon Marketing in collaboration with the Penang state government, great prizes are up for grabs. It is held in conjunction with George Town’s first anniversary celebration as a Unesco World Heritage Site. But hurry, contest ends Sept 30.

I would say the penang assam laksa should top the list for the best food.

Penang is indeed known as a food haven. I would also rate Malacca and Ipoh as great places to eat too.
